American United Separation of Church and State - CV / GR Chapter
Central Virginia / Greater Richmond Americans United Chapter
The primary mission of our chapter is to educate the public regarding
the importance of the Constitutional guarantee of church-state
separation.
The purpose of this chapter is to provide a grassroots presence for the
educational work of Americans United. As such, this chapter is an
extension of the national organization and is to act as the "eyes and
ears" of Americans United for the defense of religious liberty in the local community without
engaging in any kind of partisan political activity, including the endorsement of candidates,
endorsement of political parties or the distribution of political campaign literature.
Established in 1947 and now boasting more than 75,000 members, Americans United for
Separation of Church and State is an independent organization with no ties to any larger group
or political movement. It is a true grassroots organization. Thanks to a broad spectrum of
support in Central Virginia and around the United States, Americans United is able to defend
separation of church and state in the courts, educate legislators, work with the media to inform
Americans about religious freedom issues and organize local chapters all over the country
Central Virginia / Greater
Richmond is a local chapter of
